Terms of Service

Last updated: July 2, 2026

These terms govern your use of Claro — the macOS app and the services behind it. By downloading or using Claro you agree to them. Questions: hello@claro.sh.

The service

Claro is a voice-to-text utility for macOS: you press a hotkey, speak, and get text in the app you're using. Cloud transcription and AI features require an internet connection and are provided through third-party providers; an on-device model is available for offline use.

Your license

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Claro on Macs you own or control. The app is licensed, not sold. You may not resell, sublicense, reverse engineer, or attempt to extract the service credentials from the app, and you may not circumvent plan limits.

Free tier and paid plans

The free tier has usage limits, which we may adjust over time. Paid subscriptions are billed through our payment provider, Polar, and renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from the customer portal — access continues until the end of the paid period. If a price changes, we'll tell you before it applies to you.

Refunds

If something doesn't work for you, write to hello@claro.sh — we're reasonable about refunds. Nothing here limits any statutory rights you have in your country.

Acceptable use

Use Claro lawfully and don't abuse the service: no attempts to disrupt it, overload it, or use it to process content you have no right to process. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service or circumvent limits.

Accuracy and availability

Speech recognition is not perfect. Claro is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind; we don't guarantee that transcription will be accurate or that the service will be uninterrupted. Always review important text before sending it.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claims related to Claro is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for loss of data caused by factors outside our control.

Termination

You can stop using Claro and delete your account at any time. We may terminate or suspend access for breach of these terms; if we terminate without cause, we'll refund the unused part of any paid period.

Changes

We may update these terms as the product evolves. If a change is significant, we'll note it on this page and update the date above. Continuing to use Claro after a change means you accept it.
